Edge of Bliss Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 22, 2025
Effective Date: August 22, 2025

Plain-English Summary

  • We do not sell personal information to third parties for advertising or other non-employment purposes.
  • Any advertising on Edge of Bliss is contextual or broad-audience—not targeted to specific individuals or protected demographics.
  • Information you choose to post (e.g., resumes, profiles, forum posts, public social fields) can be seen per your visibility settings and by paying employer/recruiter/staffing accounts within our platform.
  • Social profile visibility is your call: public or private.
  • Discussion-forum posts are public.
  • The only information for which Edge of Bliss receives indirect compensation is that which paying employer/recruiter/staffing accounts access inside Edge as part of their subscription—not via data sales outside the platform.
  • Primary data storage is in the United States.

If anything here feels unclear, email privacy@edgeofbliss.com

1) Scope

This Privacy Policy covers the websites, apps, forums, and services operated by Edge of Bliss Inc (the “Services”). It applies to candidates, employers/recruiters/staffing agencies (and their users), and visitors. This Policy does not cover third-party sites or services we don’t control (e.g., external ATS portals you may be redirected to).

Age: The Services are intended for adults 18+.

2) Definitions

  • Personal Information (PI): Information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked to a person or household.
  • Sensitive Personal Information (SPI): Certain regulated categories (e.g., government IDs, precise geolocation, racial/ethnic origin, health, union membership).
  • Sell/Share (U.S. state privacy laws/CPRA): “Sell” means exchange of PI for money or valuable consideration; “Share” relates to cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share PI in that sense.
  • Processing: Any operation on PI (collect, store, use, disclose, etc.).

3) Information We Collect

A. You provide Directly

  • Account and Profile: name, email, phone, password, location (city/region), job preferences, skills tags, uploaded documents (resume, portfolio), links you add.
  • Social Profile Fields: optional; you decide public or private.
  • Forum Content: posts, comments, reactions (public).
  • Employer/Recruiter Accounts: company details, billing contact, seats/team users, content posted for job ads.
  • Communications: support requests, surveys, feedback.
  • Payments: handled by our payment processor; we don’t store full card numbers.

B. Automatically Collected

  • Device/Usage: IP address, browser type, device, OS, pages viewed, timestamps, referrers, approximate location derived from IP, error/diagnostic logs.
  • Cookies/Similar Tech: see Cookie Policy.

C. From Third Parties (Where Applicable)

  • ATS/HR systems you connect to or apply through (data limited to what you authorize).
  • Analytics providers (aggregate usage metrics).
  • Fraud/abuse prevention partners.
  • Public sources you reference (e.g., portfolio links).

Sensitive Personal Information: We do not require SPI to create an account. If we later collect optional self-identification fields (see §7D), those are voluntary, clearly labeled, and used only for the stated, lawful purpose with explicit controls.

4) How We Use Information

  • Operate the Services: account creation, authentication, profile/resume hosting, search and discovery, messaging, forums.
  • Candidate–Employer Matching: indexing resumes/skills and job requirements to surface matches in a skills-first manner; matching respects your visibility settings.
  • Display Public Content: forum posts and any profile/social fields you mark public.
  • Communications: transactional emails, service updates, and (optional) marketing you can opt out of.
  • Security & Integrity: fraud detection, incident response, auditing, enforcing Terms.
  • Analytics & Product Improvement: usage insights to improve relevance, speed, and quality.
  • Advertising: contextual or broad-audience promotions on Edge; we do not sell/share PI for cross-site behavioral advertising.
  • Legal/Compliance: meeting regulatory or contractual obligations.

Compensation Note: Our revenue from candidate information is indirect and occurs only when paying employer/recruiter/staffing accounts access your information inside our platform. We do not sell or license PI for unrelated uses.

5) Automated Matching & Fairness

  • Our AI is designed to broaden possibilities, not to constrict them. It emphasizes skills-focused matching rather than narrow keyword filtering.
  • AI outputs (e.g., suggested candidate lists) are assistive and do not make final decisions. Employers must apply human judgment and comply with applicable hiring laws.
  • You can edit your profile/resume and visibility at any time. Where applicable law provides, you may request an explanation of material automated logic and contest outcomes.

For governance details, see our AI Governance page.

6) When We Disclose Information

  • With your direction/visibility:

Employers/Recruiters/Agencies (paying accounts): view candidate data you choose to publish or share with them.

Public: forum posts and social fields you set to public.

  • Service Providers/Processors:
Hosting, storage, analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), communications, payments, security, and support—bound by contract to use PI only to provide services to Edge.
  • Legal/Compliance/Safety:
As required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Services.
  • Business Transactions:
In a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy and applicable law.

We do not sell PI and do not share PI for cross-context behavioral ads.

7) Your Choices & Key Settings

A. Profile & Resume Visibility

Choose among visibility levels (e.g., public, employer-only, private), hide specific fields, and remove uploads whenever you like.

B. Social Profiles

Individually toggle public or private. Nothing becomes public unless you choose it.

C. Forums

Posts are public by design. You can edit or delete your own posts (see Retention for how deletions work across threads).

D. Opportunities for Specific Groups

From time to time, Edge of Bliss may host or facilitate opportunities—such as job fairs, networking events, or resource programs—that are designed with particular groups in mind. These may include, for example, former federal workers, veterans, or students in certain fields of study (such as computer science).
Participation in such opportunities is always voluntary. You may, at your own discretion, choose to disclose that you belong to a particular group in order to access those offerings. Disclosure is not required, and the absence of disclosure will not limit your general use of Edge of Bliss or its core services.
These opportunities are intended to expand access and visibility, not to exclude. All users retain equal access to the broader Edge of Bliss platform regardless of whether they self-identify as part of a particular group.

Guardrails:

  • Present self-ID separately from the public profile.
  • Default to not visible to employers unless the candidate opts in to share.
  • Use for aggregate reporting or targeted employer programs only with explicit consent and in compliance with anti-discrimination laws.
  • Allow candidates to withdraw or change responses at any time.

E. Communications

Opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links or account settings (transactional messages will still be sent).

F. Cookies & Preferences

Manage cookie consent via the cookie icon in the lower-left corner of every page → Customize → adjust Consent Preferences. See the Cookie Policy.

G. “Do Not Sell or Share” / “Limit SPI”

We do not sell/share PI and we do not use SPI for advertising. Still, for clarity and state-law UI parity, we provide the links in the footer:

  • “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”
  • “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information”
These link to an explanation affirming our current practices and providing request forms.

8) Advertising & Marketing

We may display contextual or broad-audience ads on Edge (e.g., promotions to all job seekers). We do not allow third-party ad tech to track you across the web via our Services, and we do not sell PI.

9) Data Retention

We retain personal information (PI) only for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal/contractual obligations, maintain security and integrity, and resolve disputes. Unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (e.g., legal holds, fraud prevention, tax/audit), we apply the following schedules:

9.1 Accounts, Profiles, and Resumes

  • Active accounts (candidates and employers): Retained for the life of the account.
  • Closed accounts (by user request or inactivity): PI related to the account (including profile/resume data) is retained for 18 months after closure, then deleted or irreversibly de-identified within the next 30 days, unless a longer period is required by law or legal hold.

9.2 Forums and User-Generated Content

  • Public posts: Remain publicly visible until you delete them or your account is closed.
  • User-initiated deletion (soft-delete): When you delete a post, it is removed from public view immediately and retained in restricted form for 90 days for moderation, safety, and audit purposes.
  • End of soft-delete window: After 90 days, we will permanently delete the post or anonymize it if complete deletion would break thread integrity (e.g., quoted text). In such cases, the author will be anonymized and the content may appear as “\[deleted]” or equivalent.
  • Hard-delete (privacy request): Upon a verified privacy request, we will delete or anonymize forum content consistent with the rules above. We will respond within 45 days (and may extend once by an additional 45 days where permitted by law, with notice).

9.3 Logs, Backups, and Security Records

  • Security and application logs: Retained for 180 days on a rolling basis, unless extended for investigation, legal, or security purposes.
  • Encrypted backups: Maintained on a rolling schedule and overwritten within 35 days. Backup media are not used for production purposes and are accessed only for disaster recovery or legal requirements.
  • Incident and access audit records (if created): Retained for up to 7 years where legally required or necessary to protect our rights and users.

9.4 Billing and Transaction Records

Billing, invoicing, tax, and payment records: Retained for 7 years (or longer if required by applicable law).

9.5 Analytics and Aggregates

  • Analytics data (Google Analytics): Retained according to configured data-retention settings and then aggregated or deleted per Google’s controls.
  • De-identified/aggregated data: We may retain de-identified or aggregated data indefinitely, provided it cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual.

9.6 Legal Holds and Exceptions

If we receive a preservation order, regulatory request, or anticipate litigation, we may suspend deletion of relevant information until the hold is lifted. Where deletion is not feasible due to technical limits or legal duties, we will isolate and securely protect the information and cease further processing except for storage and compliance.

10) Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, vulnerability management). No system is perfectly secure. We maintain an incident-response process and provide breach notifications as required by law.

11) Children’s Privacy

The Services are for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect PI from minors. If you believe a minor has provided PI, contact us and we will delete it.

12) International Users & Transfers

We are based in the United States and primarily process/store data in the U.S. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you acknowledge your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where applicable, we will implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

    13) Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access/know, correct, delete, port, object/restrict, and appeal a decision on your request. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

      U.S. State Rights (e.g., CA/CO/CT/UT/VA/TX, etc.):
We honor applicable state-law privacy rights. We do not sell/share PI and do not use SPI for advertising. Use the footer links or contact us to exercise your rights.

      How to submit a request:
Email privacy@edgeofbliss.com (or use the footer request links). We may need to verify your identity and state of residence. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization.

      14) Third Party Links & Integrations

Our Services may link to or integrate with third-party sites (e.g., ATS application portals). Their handling of PI is governed by their own privacy policies. Review those policies before submitting information there.

        15) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. We’ll change the “Last Updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (e.g., email or in-product). Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
