This position is for you if:

  • You have an undergraduate degree in Agriculture Business, or related field. You have agriculture industry experience; knowledge of transplants and plant products.

  • You have 5+ years experience in sales and a minimum of 3 years of management experience.

  • You have a strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirement.
  • You have strong motivational and leadership skills.
  • You have a passion for sales, enjoy developing sales strategies and can identify challenges and resources.
  • You have a strong customer focus both internally and externally; you enjoy

    meeting with existing customers and new prospects.

    Travel is required 50-75% of the time in this position. This position will also cover our Nipomo, CA facility.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision, self-motivated.

Join our team:

As the successful West Coast Sales Manager, you will be working with the CEO/President (14 years with Speedling) as well as the rest of the sales team. This role is responsible for the development and performance of all sales and marketing activities in their region. Provide leadership and coordination in the execution of strategy, company policy and goals as developed with the CEO/President to provide consistent quality cost efficiently to our customers. Provide long and short term direction to the sales and customer service team, leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base and contributes to the development of new strategic plans and programs along with the Speedling Team. Maximize both present and long term sales and gross profits. Coordinate with other sales and customer service managers to ensure consistency of policy execution across the country. The West Coast Sales manager will continue to perform a sales representative role by maintaining direct customer accounts and developing new ones in a specific territory within their region.

The job details:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies that ensure attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Forecast and execute sales budget within the overall framework of the division sales strategy while increasing sales.
  • Supervise 1-4 sales representatives ensuring their compliance with all strategies and policies and maximizing the sales potential in their region.
  • Product Development: work with customers and production teams to discover and develop new and value-added products.
  • Development and implementation of marketing plans and action plans to penetrate new markets and grow existing business.
  • Call on customers throughout the territory.
  • Secure credit information to open new accounts and update existing ones.
  • Collect on all sales including finance charges where applicable.
  • Manage proactively to avoid or represent and defend Speedling against all customer claims.
  • Build effective communication with Operations, Sales and Customers in order to understand training and development needs and to provide insight for the improvement of sales and customer service.
  • Sell what, when, where we can grow and/or sell value of improving or converting capacities to maximize profits.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the Customer Service staff in order to maximize sales potential.
  • Provide insightful ongoing feedback to senior management and peers regarding performance risks and opportunities.
  • Control expenses to meet budget guidelines and ensure positive ROI of every investment of Speedling resources.
  • Attend trade shows that will be informative or otherwise highest and best use of time.
  • Analyze sales data to determine sales potential and monitor the customer preferences.
  • Analyze profitability reports and work with production teams to maximize profitability.
