RF Test Engineer

Location: Tampa Bay, Florida
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Environment: On-site laboratory / engineering environment
Eligibility: U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required

About the Role

We are seeking an RF Test Engineer to support advanced RF and microwave device characterization in a hands-on laboratory environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys precision measurement, complex technical problem-solving, and building custom test setups for advanced electronic and microwave devices.

You will set up, operate, adapt, and maintain specialized RF test equipment while performing detailed electrical and microwave measurements. The right candidate will bring strong technical aptitude, curiosity, ownership, and a collaborative mindset. We are looking for someone who is sharp, motivated, humble, and eager to keep learning.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer who wants to work closely with advanced RF measurement systems, custom laboratory setups, and challenging device characterization projects.

What You’ll Do

As an RF Test Engineer, you will:

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate specialized RF and microwave test equipment with accuracy and care.
  • Perform complex electrical, RF, and microwave measurements using laboratory instrumentation.
  • Support advanced device characterization, including power measurements, load-pull testing, noise parameter measurements, and pulsed RF testing.
  • Build, adapt, and troubleshoot custom RF test setups for specialized measurement requirements.
  • Use laboratory software and computer-based tools for test operation, data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Review measurement data, inspect samples, identify anomalies, and communicate results clearly.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, test procedures, and operational instructions.
  • Maintain test equipment, accessories, probes, cables, fixtures, and work areas in an organized and efficient condition.
  • Follow established test procedures, safety practices, documentation standards, and laboratory protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors, engineers, technicians, and other team members to solve technical challenges.

RF and Microwave Equipment You May Use

This role may involve hands-on work with:

  • Vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and noise analyzers
  • Impedance analyzers and microwave probes
  • Oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, and temperature measurement devices
  • RF probes, fixtures, cables, adapters, and calibration standards
  • Load-pull systems and related RF characterization equipment
  • Pulsed RF test systems and custom measurement setups
  • Laboratory software for measurement control, data collection, and analysis

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates who bring a strong mix of technical skill, practical judgment, and personal drive.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Microwave Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Hands-on training or experience with RF, microwave, electrical, or electronic test measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical procedures, and test instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, repeatable measurement work.
  • Comfortable using computers, lab software, and technical data tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to troubleshoot unfamiliar systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative laboratory or engineering environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a corporate, engineering, semiconductor, defense, aerospace, electronics, or RF laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with power measurements, load-pull measurements, noise parameter characterization, or pulsed RF testing.
  • Familiarity with RF/microwave device characterization, S-parameters, impedance matching, calibration methods, and measurement uncertainty.
  • Experience using vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, noise analyzers, or microwave probing systems.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar lab automation/data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Ability to help design, improve, or troubleshoot custom RF test fixtures and measurement setups.

Who Thrives Here

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • Technically curious and eager to understand how advanced RF systems work.
  • Hands-on and comfortable working directly with equipment, instruments, devices, and data.
  • Precise and detail-oriented, especially when measurements need to be accurate and repeatable.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take ownership of your work.
  • Collaborative and humble, with a willingness to ask questions, learn from others, and help the team succeed.
  • Resilient under ambiguity, especially when developing or troubleshooting custom test setups.
