What Would You Do? 

The Parts Manager runs an efficient and profitable Parts Department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achieving objectives, and maintenance of all parts records. S/he is responsible for overseeing the operations of locating, ordering, receiving, and verifying parts. S/he ensures that all work is performed with the goal of expediting all repairs requiring parts and keeping the cycle time as low as possible. S/he is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization.

What will your responsibilities be:

  • Effectively manages a profitable Parts Department and high volume of work.

  • Ensures that the department is providing exceptional customer service to all parts customers.

  • Monitors all daily processes that include customer sales, internal parts sales, inventory control, parts purchasing, vendor relations, and special orders.

  • Regularly audits repair orders ensuring parts are charged out on repair orders.

  • Assists in the timely return of Cores, Warranty Parts, and Obsolete Parts to all vendors for all locations.

  • Communicates with customers before issues arise and gets involved in escalated customer issues.

  • Directs and schedules the activities of all department associates.

  • Ensures that proper sales techniques and processes are being used.

  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the parts department.

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat referral business.

  • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.

  • Prepares and administers annual/monthly operating budgets for the Parts Department.

  • Works with the Service Department to ensure proper stocking of high use parts.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures warranty parts retention as outlined, following all manufacturer requirements as outlined in manufacturer and company policy and procedures manuals.

  • Maintains reporting systems as required by dealership and manufacturer.

  • Manages and develops outside parts sales opportunities.

Do you have the necessary education and experience?

  • A High School diploma or GED is required, but Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college is preferred.

  • 5 plus years previous parts experience, retail automotive dealership preferred.

  • 3 plus years’ Supervisory experience preferred.

  • 1 or more years of DMS experience is preferred.

  • Base compensation, Exempt: $65k-$85k annually plus bonus opportunities.
