Position Overview/Summary

The DCR’s mission is to increase the quantity, quality, and efficiency of clinical research at MGH. DCR nurtures and empowers the next generation of clinical research investigators, supports study staff, and provides guidance, resources, and tools to all members of the clinical research community. DCR provides navigation, consultation, hands-on direct support, and education through fifteen Units, nine Centers and the Support Services Core.

The Center for Clinical Research Education (CCRE) in the DCR offers over 200 live and online courses annually with 6,000 participants. The CCRE is an asset to the research community and is well regarded at MGH and Mass General Brigham (MGB)-wide.

The Education Coordinator supports the DCR CCRE by providing administrative support to the assistant director and partnering with faculty to develop and produce educational programs in clinical research. In this position, the Education Coordinator organizes and executes in-person educational offerings, produces online courses using Articulate Storyline software, manages online courses in OpenCourses Learning Management System (LMS) and leads special projects. The Education Coordinator has a significant impact on the institution as the center offers approximately 200 lectures per year with more than 5,000 attendees from across departments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will organize and execute the DCR’s educational offerings using exceptional organizational skills, as well as ability to use various online systems for content and learning management, for the successful performance of duties listed below:

• Oversee the educational calendar for the year, anticipating needs of new and existing courses and events.

• Work with the director to set priorities and goals for educational offerings.

• Plan and support Clinical Research Day (CRD) and activities surrounding CRD.

• Develop and publish the weekly Division of Clinical Research Newsletter.

• Participate in Research Institute special projects .

• Coordinate course evaluation process.

• Work with course directors and faculty to anticipate the needs of a successful course.

• Handle scheduling, physical rooms, virtual rooms, audiovisual equipment needs, physical materials, instructor reminders, advertising, stipends, honoraria, preparation of enrollment/registration pages, and posting of course materials.

• Maintains communication with students, instructors, and staff from various departments to facilitate the implementation of the education center’s courses and events.

• Supports students and instructors with minor technical issues using Moodle, our Learning Management System (LMS), Zoom, PowerPoint, or audiovisual equipment.

• Complete additional responsibilities, projects, meetings, and other needs as requested. Required :

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

• A minimum of 1 year of related work experience as well as prior administrative experience

• Ensure course logistics and office expenses are arranged within annual budget. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Highly motivated team player.

• Ability to learn quickly and take on challenging new projects with enthusiasm.

• Excellent analytical, project management, time-management, and communication skills.
