POSITION SUMMARY: The International Code Council (ICC) is a not for profit membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention. The ICC develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, and provides associated products and services in support of this mission. The ICC has four offices, based in Birmingham, Alabama; Country Club Hills, Illinois; Brea, California; and Washington, D.C. plus remote home-office staff.

ICC’s Assessment Center is responsible for development and administration of testing-related services, including internationally-recognized certification program, a suite of contractor/trade examinations, and contract testing services. This division currently has a full-time staff of 12, led by the Director of the Assessment Center.

The Credentialing Advocate will support the Assessment Center through various activities, including:

  • Processing Requests
  • Applications (transitions, combinations, etc)
  • Candidate Documents
  • Records Release
  • Change of demographic information
  • Vouchers
  • Payments/Refunds
  • Merges
  • Renewals
  • Applications
  • Audits
  • Reporting
  • Customer Care
  • Work directly with (internal/external) customers regarding questions and concerns
  • Tier 1/2 – direct communications from candidates
  • Tier 2 – as forwarded by other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Quality Control – Critical toward zero defects


The successful applicant will ideally possess a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a related field, plus experience in a fast-paced environment with critical hard-stop deadlines. Requires high organization and process tracking skills. Exposure to construction related work content desired. Must be proficient in or capable of quickly mastering MS Office and in-house computer software programs.
